About Us
Our Mission
The mission of Seeds of Power is to help us build mass based, powerful, fighting organizations and unions with the skills, strategy and ability to defend our communities against attacks and advance transformative change.
Our Story
Seeds of Power was born from decades of organizing on the frontlines of struggle—immigrant families fighting deportations, workers demanding dignity on the job, and communities standing together in moments of crisis. Across more than 75 years of combined experience, we’ve learned that true transformation happens when those most impacted by injustice and everyday working people are not only heard, but supported to lead. Our name reflects our belief that when we plant seeds of leadership, solidarity, and care—and cultivate those seeds through long-term investment—movements grow that can weather storms and change what once seemed impossible.
Our journey is also rooted in relationships. The four longtime organizers and strategists who make up Seeds of Power first came together through the Leadership for Democracy and Social Justice, Movement Leader Fellowship, where we discovered a shared vision for building mass-based, powerful, fighting organizations and unions. We saw that to truly win, our movements need not only courage, but also the skills, strategy, and ability to defend our communities against attacks and advance transformative change. That shared commitment has grown into a collaboration grounded in trust, experience, and collective vision.
Together, our paths span decades of labor and community struggles—organizing unions, building immigrant rights networks, leading deportation defense and economic justice campaigns, developing leadership pipelines with workers, and founding immigrant-led groups and day laborer centers. At the center of all this work is base building—the practice of organizing workers and community members into collective action, developing leaders, and creating a foundation strong enough for both building power and winning campaigns or contracts that improve people’s lives. As a team, we are all bilingual in English and Spanish, ensuring that language justice and accessibility are embedded in every training, strategy, and campaign we offer.
Today, Seeds of Power carries forward that mission by offering organizing and base building coaching, training, and accompaniment for both community organizations and labor unions. We provide strategy consulting, campaign design, and strategic thought partnership to help organizations, unions, and coalitions grow stronger and more effective. Our work centers on organizer training, leadership development, and power building program design that transforms staff, members, and everyday people into organizers ready to lead and win. Through tailored coaching and customized program design, we help unions and organizations grow their base, build power, and win campaigns that defend our communities, raise standards for workers, and advance transformative change.
